+1 I am going to make a point of going to Montreal because I want to see/hear the V8's before they die.
That said, I think it is going to cost a boat load of money to R&D new I4 turbo engines. I mean it cost Ferrari $100 million to redesign a double diffuser. This goes against lowering cost in everyway that Jean Todt stated when he was running for FIA president. I don't think the cars will be horrible but it is possible that other series will have faster cars which would be truly saddening. F1 is supposed to be the preeminent racing series of the world not some greenie PR test ground.
