Agree with most of what you said. M is a sell out after I saw and experienced the X6 M over the weekend. Other than it looks nice, it is one hell of a horrible POS tank. 6800 rpm redline on an M car is a joke. They gave up on the defining characteristic of an M car - high-revving engine. That is what made M. It is like Porsche not making rear-engine 911s anymore.

However, M3 is still the lightest car of the bunch. Even if it is heavier by 130 lbs than the last M3. On scales, it tips in at 3580 pounds (3600 lbs for sedan). That is featherlight compared to the heavy tanks like 3900 lbs IS-F, 3900 lbs RS4, 4100 lbs CTS-V and 4000 lbs C63 AMG.

They need to keep the same 4.0 Liter V8 with 25 - 30 HP more and make the car 300 lbs lighter. 3200 lbs 440 HP 4.0 Liter V8 M3 is the ideal M3 right there.

That would make the car quicker, handle better, brake better and get better fuel economy. When I first heard of the weight of the new E90/92 M3's, I couldnt believe my eyes. For an entry level platform thats suppossed to be about performance, it sure seems like they forgot about the weight. Let the Benz and Audi guys deal with the weight. They care more about the 3 pointed "star" and AWD then overall performance. This time next year I will get the current M3 for my wife, but if they go to turbos, it just might be my last.
