i have a simple etrade brokerage account which lets me trade stocks, write checks, pay bills, and includes a visa debit/check card. cash that isn't invested is automatically routed to a tax exempt bond fund (which sucks at the moment). credit is provided through margin accounts (the rates are fair but currently not using that).
beyond that, i manage my own money. even if the big banks can do it cheap, why wouldn't you want to handle your own money?
