What's there not to like. Also I can tell you that the 6disc indash unit with dynaudio setup is exceptionally good, thumping bass and good seperation. Plus the wife is averaging 33mpg at the moment.
If you like the Golf then best get her a GTI out on loan for a test drive and hand her the keys, I bet any money after 20mins she will have forgot all about the Mini or the A3.
