So, it came on to kill the rotation, rather to keep you from accelerating, but then when you tried to accelerate you couldn't add power because it deemed you at the limit, right?

If so, then it'll always be a negative. The car needs to rotate some in AX, so if it's going to limit your power application due to a little slipping, it just won't work. So, since you don't have MDM, I think you'll just need turn off DSC.
