I have Rays/Volk CE28n with 255/35R18 tires on my A4. The A4 has firm coilovers and I've gotten a few bent rims over the years (always straightened without a problem). But the wheels are very light and hold up great on the track. My front brake calipers have only about 1-2 mm of clearance, but there's never been any sign of touching (even after plenty of track time, powerslides, etc.).
For my M3, I bought one set of APEX for track, and plan to buy another set for the street. I feel they don't really look like a high-end wheel, especially on close inspection. But I'm only willing to spend so much on looks.
