It's all down to traction and the rubber in question, the GT3 has 60% of it's weight over the rear tyres and the rubber is CUP with a width of 305. The M3 has only 48.5% of it's weight over the rear with less grippy rubber that 1.6 inches narrower.
He did the best with what was available.
