During last month’s official future strategy presentation BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer revealed plans for several all-new models including a design study dubbed the Progressive Activity Sedan. Details were brief but we were given an obscure design brief for the new concept, which is said to highlight efficient packaging methods and intelligent functionalities. As with most BMW concepts, the Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS) will eventually spawn a production model slated for introduction around 2010.

Spy shots of the car have already been spotted. They showed that the new model will pickup many of the lines from the recently revealed X6 and it’s rumored to be available in both RWD and AWD configurations. Like the X6, the new PAS will only be a four-seater with individual bucket seats featuring full heating and massage functions.

BMW will once again be stressing the car’s coupe characteristics just as it did with the X6. Expect to see extremely short overhangs, pumped fenders and optional 21in wheels. The wheelbase will stretch just over 3m with overall length around 4.85m.

The car will initially be available with four different engines as well as the latest EfficientDynamics technologies including the possibility of a hybrid option. The engine range will kick off with a 245hp 3.0L turbodiesel, followed by a pair of 300hp 3.0L twin-turbo six cylinder engines, one diesel and the other petrol. The range topper will be a new 408hp 4.0L diesel V8 with an available 600Nm of torque.
