Premium fuel - why are we getting hosed?
I've been wondering this for a while. Yesterday at the pump, I found that premium is 0.15/L more expensive than regular. I spent the previous weekend in Las Vegas where premium is 0.25/gallon more expensive than regular. Converted, that puts the US price at 6.6 cents more per litre.
So my questions are:
-is this simply a supply and demand thing? (perhaps)
-does it cost less to produce premium in the US? (probably not)
-are Canadian taxes higher on premium fuel? (no idea)
-are we simply being gouged in Canada for premium (I think so)
What can be done about this, or do we just keep getting fucked like usual?
