Pretty much all CF products have a protective coat on them, be it clear, matte, satin, etc to protect the raw carbon fiber. e.g the carbon fiber roof on our cars is clear coated.

It's one of those changes that are so subtle that can only be appreciated in person. And in photos, only a real photographer, unlike myself
, would be able to capture it well and do it any justice.
