at any rate, i can wait to see if the ZR1 and the V-spec can hold their own against Porsche's 997 GT2. i've seen an unofficial ring time of 7:32 for the GT2, but it has hardly been in the hands of either the public or the press (unlike the ZR1), so perhaps it has the potential to shave 5-10 seconds of that time.

They created the R35 to surpass the 911 turbo's performance and it did. With the ZR1 out now along with the GT2, I doubt Nissan's going to release a V-Spec GTR that will fail to beat them. I agree its not going to blow either away, but it doesn't have to. It simply has to come in first, which it will.
