A problem is more likely to arise if you are involved in a major claim...say you are at fault and put someone into a wheel chair and there is a claim against you that would easily run into 100's of 1000s of £s...you can be sure that the insurance company will check for a way of not paying out. The costs will then fall on you if you have invalidated your insurance by having undeclared modifications.
