Thanks fellas! What was confusing me was the leather that ibanezking mentioned that needs to be cut. So did either of you cut any leather to remove your knob.

I have a Turner Motorsport CF shift knob (for manual tranny) that feels AMAZING to hold (it's the knob I have in my 323i now), so I want to put this in the M3 since I prefer the feel of this knob... hopefully there won't be any issues putting an E46 knob into an M3.
