$4 to basically insure a $7 cable seems steep to me. I have not had the issue with any lightning cable. I have one of the old cables from like an original ipad or something that is coming apart, however it still works fine. If I still used it a lot I would probably just buy a new cable.

I also like the idea of a multipack.

EDIT: I just noticed it's also $2 shipping so it now comes out to $6 to insure a $7 cable.
