One of my deepest memories of taking a liking to BMWs was also the first time I saw an 850i, except that it was parked in an Olive Garden (Italian restaurant chain) parking lot in New Jersey.
Although it happened in a much less dramatic way and location than your first sighting, it made a similar impression on me!
