I 100% agree with this post. I've been searching for the best combo for FI and constantly reading people's feedback on tires recommedation for FI. I really like my Michelin PSS but they don't make 285/30/19. Being limited to the brand and size, I'll be picking another brand on my next set.

9.5 et28 in the front is very conservative and will work without spacers with OEM suspension, springs and most coilovers. They will however be pretty conservative looking (from an offset standpoint). You may have noticed that the 18" version are available in et19 and most aftermarket 9.5" wheels for front use are around et22. Those offsets are far better. The best 19" tire sizes for the front of an M3 are 275/30/19 or 255/35/19. The FI's weak et28 offset will require 10mm or 12mm spacers with KW coilovers if you run 275's and possibly 255's (haven't tested 255's on 9.5" wheels so I can't confirm). I would not run 265/30/19's because that is a thinner sidewall than the above options but it will certainly work. I would not run 265/35/19's because that will rub a lot when you turn the wheel. Many people complain about rubbing at full lock with 255/35/19's, going up to 265/35/19's will make it worse. Again it will work, and has obviously been done but I wouldn't choose that option. On top of that, a 265/35/19 will most certainly result in the front diameter being larger than the rear diameter (unless you run 275/35/19's in the rear) which is the opposite of OEM. The car was designed to have a larger diameter in the rear vs. front. I would not switch that. I would consider the same diameter front and rear (for the benefits of a square wheel/tire) but not a larger diameter front than rear.

The rear offset is even more of a problem because it's too aggressive for 295's which can't be corrected with a spacer. I have ran a 295/30/19 in the rear on a 10.5 et22 wheel and a 10.5 et25 wheel. There is slight rubbing with an et22 wheel with Michelins or Yokohama tires. It rubs at the metal fender and can not be eliminated with camber (I had maximum negative camber when on et22 rears). et25 and a 295/30/19 tire works without rubbing. So I wouldn't recommend a 295/30/19 with the et23 offset based on my experience. That is unless you use a tire that runs narrow like a Hankook V12 which is a sub-par tire IMO. Or you think you will get lucky and make it fit, or you don't mind a little rubbing of the paint on your fender.

So what does that leave you given my opinion about the ideal front tire size? Either a 285/30/19 or a 275/35/19. In order to have a consistent match with the front tire, I would probably run a 255/35/19 in the front and a 275/35/19 in the rear. Those are OK sizes but I would much rather run a 275/295 combo, but that won't work. A 265/30/19 & 285/30/19 combo would work but I don't like the short sidewall of the the 265/30 and 285/30/19 isn't available in my two favorite 19" tires (Yokohama AD08 and Michelin PSS).

All of the above reasons are why I don't like the 19" FI. The 18" FI's are available in far better offsets. I would choose the 18" version.
