If you stay with the X-pipe and High Flow Cats and software to illiminate the check light, you'll pass emissions in most states. Mine passes in NM. But you can swop back to stock if you need to for the reasons you posted. But without software, you'll eventualy end up with a check engine light or CEL for increased emissions. Good luck,
