That scenario strikes me as extremely unlikely. There is a always a possibility for small internal changes over the years, but I would not expect anything that would change the behavior of the transmission. At most it would be changes for better durability or reliability.

IMHO, the prospect for "DCT II" in the lifetime of the E9X M3 is basically non-existent, and especially not a mere two years after the original debuts.
