it is not the $ necessarily but as an insurance guy explained to me M3's have a bad rep for being stolen, thrashed and crashed. Atleast the E46's did and as such insurance companies are very wary of insuring <30's for them.
I had a brand new Range Rover sport (higher value than a 2010 e92) and Allianz had no dramas insuring me for $1200k premium.
I live in a good suburb in Brisbane so not the area either.
