That's very disciplined of you. Only having a prime lens (fixed focal length) is going to force you to do the old manual zoom (i.e. walk toward something to zoom in and walk away from something to zoom out), but this is a good thing. Framing is everything, so really force yourself to get in closer than your average snapshooter would and really fill up that frame, and try other perspectives than standing, eye-level.
