The real reasons the M cars are going FI are because of 1) fleet fuel requirements; 2) BMW's expressed strategy (communicated in numerous investor presentations and earnings calls) to share engine blocks/components in order to dramatically reduce development/production costs and improve profitability. So who exactly is "fooling" whom?
