A lot has been discussed in car forums about Valentine 1, or even about radar detectors.
It's not 100% "protective", but it's much better than not having one.
I'm sure it saved me at least 8~9 tickets over the last 5 years i used it on both highway and local roads.
And I've used escort 8500 and Valentine 1, Valentine 1 is better. (i like how people say "why buy Panassonic when there's a Sony?" lol)
performance is similar i believe, and i'm not gonna waste time talking about this...(it's been discussed so much...)
For me, it's just the display and representation in daily drive use i think is better in Valentine 1.
Just like many Valentine 1 users, i have the detector hardwired and located on the lower front windshield. I have the sound off the whole time, which i also believe is what a lot of people do in daily use.
With the sound off, the Valentine 1's arrow and number representation, along with distance markers is better than escorts' blue or red fonts during both day and night time.
