It is interesting to read and participate in a thread like last night. But remember: we are dealing with real people. It's not all just a joke.

I feel bad about this whole thing.
I am probably just as white as you.
The only person who has ever made fun of my color (or lack thereof) is my wife. She can get away with it.
If you were black and people were making fun of your dark skin, there would be a lot stronger words coming from many people than what I am writing here. There should be. It would be called racist. But when it comes to your lilly white skin, it's just all in good fun. I call foul.
There isn't much anybody can do about their skin color (short of tanning and the like). Skin color shouldn't be a factor for much of anything. It's not like being fat. That is a choice. You don't hear that many jabs about being fat directed at the obese person.
I hope that from this, those who need to exhibit more maturity will recognize that fact and learn from it. We all have made and will continue to make significant errors in judgement. Let cooler heads prevail. Don't write flip responses except in fun that will likely be taken as fun. And try not to take it so personal when criticised. Try to find something to laugh about. Look for common ground.
Can't we all just get along?
Good luck, bmwexecutive. Be your true self, and always strive to make yourself better than you are today. Hopefully that will be acceptable - both to you and to those who care. Enjoy your youth.
