Really? my grandma drives MT and no one has ever called her manly (well not to her face anyway).
I get that when it was either a MT or a 3 speed torque converter auto then the choice for the performance driver was usually the MT...but now DCTs move the game forward to a whole new level. Its not for nothing that high performance cars manufacturers are going to DCTs.
As always, the more newbie the MT owning driver is, the more vociferous his defense of his transmission choice. When you have done enough miles in MTs and perfected everything there is to perfect then manual gearchanging becomes that annoying time when you aren't accelerating . It doesn't "connect" you the car, its not raw or visceral its just plain slow and antiquated, a technique easily mastered by everyone and his grandma.
