Personally i wont want to do such short distance driving especially when its really cold outside. You using spec'ed oil weight (10w60)? Might help bit more if you switch to 0w40 like most people on the forum, but then that's personal preference.
I will suggest getting a beater if money is not a problem. Cheers.
