Not a big deal to me. Since I have had to live in a state that requires a front plate my entire life, to me, a car looks a little off without one. Also, a lot depends on the shape of the front of the car. It is harder, for example, to get a front plate to sit properly on the the front a car like a Porsche.
Just get a nice plate frame and be done with it. The worst thing IMO, is when people put their plates off to the side on the tow hook. That really looks hideous.
