The biggest advantage to using a local traffic lawyer is that they most likely have a friendly relationship with the local prosecutor. Most defense attorneys are prosecutors in other towns top make $$ at both ends. The prosecutor in my court has always been good at offering the best possible deal even if you don't have an attorney, but my court is much more liberal than most.
