A good buddy of mine has a Boxster Spyder, and it is able to keep up considerably with a stock e9X M3.
As for the weights, the m3 weight does include 75 kg for passenger and weight, and the Cayman R's doesnt. Delta is still likely around 500 lbs between them.

I test drove a Spyder a few months ago. It felt a little low in power but was amazing! It looks great too!
