Correct, you should never be holding full lock on your power steering, as this can cause damage to the rack. |
This will not damage the rack, max system pressure is controlled. If it were true that the rack could be damaged with excessive pressure, the first time the steering wheel was turned on a cold morning would involve a damaged rack.
To the OP, can you take a video of the noise?
