BMW NA sells (through any BMW dealer) only three types of "Extended Vehicle Protection" coverages - GOLD, PLATINUM, POWERTRAIN PLUS (see dsm918's post above) - and each coverage category is offered in four different year/mileage combinations. Only BMW NA EVP's guarantee genuine BMW parts at an authorized BMW repair facility. And digging into the details on the Powertrain Plus on M-DCT does reveal that everything on an M-DCT transmission is covered except clutches. ANY BMW dealer can sell a BMW NA EVP package to anyone (I live in Mississippi and, after getting several quotes, bought mine recently from Steve Thomas BMW in California) and they are contracted directly with BMW NA. And the BMW NA EVP plan is transferable for a small fee as long as it is a private party (not through a dealer) sale.
There are also LOTS of other companies that sell so-called third party Extended Warranties. ANY BMW dealer can sell these as well - and many do since they get a great $ mark-up. These extended warranties will rarely explicitly mention M-DCT since they are written in general-ise for cars that do not have an M-DCT. This would be an area where I would personally be very careful come claim time. I would also be careful with these warranties on an ///M car in general where non BMW parts/non BMW service might be mandated. Check the claim process carefully. And transferability will be per each plan's terms and conditions.
In the end, I chose a BMW NA EVP plan (Powertrain Plus, 7 year/70,000 mile) from Steve Thomas and sleep well at night.
Good luck.

I went with the platinum plan for 7 years 100K miles no problem or concern what so ever.
