Just did a road trip from Dublin OH USA to Toronto Canada last weekend. My M is not my everyday car and I just use it for those weekend drive and long road trip. It is a garage queen but sometimes I have to start it up and move it out of the garage to do some grilling and mowing. I read that frequent start and stop will be taxing to your oil in which some water vapor will be mixed in. The long drive will burn those water in your oil and will lower you oil reserve drastically. It happened to me last weekend. Before the trip my oil indicator was 3/4 full but got a warning after around 200 miles on our trip. Fortunately, I got an extra oil and I was expecting this will happen even though I got my doubt. The whole quart put back the level to full.
