I think that that question was answered already by the Mustang GT (according to Motor Trend at least) and most probably it will be laid to rest with the Boss 302...
My opinion is that the new Mustangs are the real deal as sporty cars, regardless of the price. But there must be something wrong with the GT500 in particular (old iron block and new 5.4L aluminum), as magazine test after test shows that performance-wise is not that impressive relatively to its power output. It is like somehow always missing 100HP just before the tests...
