Seriously? If you want something easy to find, easy to get to, and not overly crowded...Rudy's will give you a good taste of TX BBQ...the brisket or the turkey. If you are coming south on I-35, try Schoepf's BBQ in Belton, TX (about 2/3 of the way to Austin from Dallas). Its right off of I-35...but get the chicken. Its fantastic. The ribs are also good.
All of those other fancy, crowded, and expensive BBQ places never really do it for me. I've never found them to be much better than Rudy's.
But do wash it down with a Shiner Bock or Red Pale Ale! Or if you can find it, a Shiner Cosmos.
