Ok, a little clarity. DUI is a criminal complaint but is written under the vehicle code, so it is a mover, unless you get a felony DUI. There is a difference, and if you got one, you'd know it. Additionally, most states have two different categories regarding criminal records. It will ALWAYS be on your permanent record both criminal and driving unless as mentioned above, you get it expunged. It's terribly expensive, and you must be able to show good cause for the expungement. You can't just get it taken off because you don't like it. Also, if you were fingerprinted, those records and the reason you were printed will always be there. However, for insurance purposes, stuff drops off the "record" after a certain number of years, depending on the state. In Illinois, its three years, unless you know the governor or mayor Daley.
