Go to the Proformance Racing school site and you will find a video of an instructor going around the track giving you tips. I've been to 4 track days at Pacific Raceways, and my biggest mistake was not studying the track to know "the line" prior to my first session. You need to know where you are supposed to be and landmarks ahead of time unless you are a fast learner on the fly which I am not. I am going with the BMW club next Thursday, and the Alfa club the following Wednesday. Hope it is dry.
