oh I see, the CPO and Maintenance together cost $3400? That's more like it, yeah, it's a piece of mind you're buying. The most common problems we've seen in our M3s are:
1. Idle air control valve failure
2. bent valve stems
3. some E93s had roof issues
4. some emission sensor issues
So at the end of the day, you still overpaid for the M3, at $42k without extended, it's about $2k-$3k more given the miles. But others have noted, E93s are more expensive, but shouldn't be that much more, and you are in the California market.
your original post is confusing, you should strip out all the line items, taxes, CPO&maintenace charge, other fees to make it comparable.
