10 years ago or so...if you speak Mandarin (or Pu Tung Hua) in Hong Kong, people will believe (oh...you're from above - "China"...bleh)...
now...if you walk in a store (e.g. Gucci, AX, EA, LV...etc) and speak mandarin, you will be treated as VIP...
