ACM | Performance BMW Cover October 2013: Big Purp E92 M3

It was a bitter sweet day when we sold off "Big Purp", Sal's supercharged Techno Violet E92 M3. He wanted to do something different in the E92 community all while paying homage to the M heritage. Some people rolled their eyes when they heard his car was in the paint booth to become purple, but it was quickly a hit and everyone across the world who saw it on the forums and social media loved it; becoming rather well known in a short amount of time the name "Big Purp" was born. Those who experienced the color in person were drawn to it even more because pictures rarely do things justice. It was nice to see something done so differently, be accepted so well. Although it left the shop and our possession, we saw it off properly, the way any car enthusiast would dream of - on the cover of a magazine.

Performance BMW was interested in the car due to it's laundry list of modifications in every department so we setup a private day at Monticello Motor Club in New York to shoot the car parked on the track as well as rolling shots. We also had access to their skid pad where we were able to do some drifting and donuts. It was a blast to work closely with both the staff at Monticello Motor Club as well as the crew at Performance BMW Magazine. The combination of car, the caliber of mods, and the location made for one of the best photo shoots I've done to date. Cleverly and fittingly, Ben, the feature writer at PBMW, named the article "Techno Violent".

We just received our copies from the UK earlier this week, but this article should be out on newsstands by end of September so keep an eye out for it
