I've always liked the Mini's but could never really justify them. I find they are just TOO small to be useful and too expensive for a frugal DD. That said if you can afford it, it's probably a nice way to get to work.
Curious as to why you passed on, say, a GTI. I drove one on multiple occasions and found it to be (flame suit on) one of the most unexplainably fun cars in my experience. More fun than my STi and non-M BMWs without a doubt.
