This sort of thing just highlights the corruption in the world today. 14 states were in favour of this resolution but the U.S with it's power to veto shot it down. wtf?

Also, the U.S are giving mixed messages. They say they acknowledge the illegal settlements BUT also say they don't want to intervene with resolutions and would rather deal with it through peace talks which are NON-BINDING and mean NOTHING.

However, when America does want to intervene with something like Libya they will move fast and pressure the whole world to take action. At the same time when the Ivory Coast and other places in the world were in a bad state America does NOTHING. It's all about politics and securing the best interests of their own country. Noone cares about civil wars really, or the poor, unless it directly impacts their own country (e.g OIL!)
