In my opinion, replacing a crankshaft and main bearings without pulling the engine and verifying that the main bearing bores are in proper alignment and are in spec for both roundness and taper is a waste of time.
Bearings almost always fail due to another issue which leads to the failure, very seldom is the bearing itself the problem.
