BMW continues to prepare for their re-entry to the German Touring Car Championship DTM beginning in 2012. BMW Motorsport announced yesterday that they will support three teams, each lining up with two BMW M3 DTM cars. The recently founded race team Reinhold Motorsport
will join the teams Schnitzer
. When it comes to success, BMW Schnitzer
surely is to most renowned team. Schnitzer was not only involved in the DTM victory 1989, but also had tremendous success in recent years including a 1st place in 2010's 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (see full list below).
BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen is looking forward to the collaboration: "The concepts presented by BMW Team RBM, BMW Team Schnitzer and Reinhold Motorsport GmbH ultimately convinced us. This is an excellent team line-up for BMW. For us, it is important that all three teams have absolute equal rights. We are looking forward to cooperating over the coming years – and hope to enjoy great success together.
BMW's next step in the preparation will be the rollout of the M3 DTM race car later this year. We'll keep you updated.
