Smart. I have a friend who went to Spain for a triathlon. Shipped his bike to himself for pick up. Spanish customs held his bike when tried to pick it up. Had to dish out $2200 to get it from customs for his race. He said it seemed like quite a legal scam, because someone would show proof of purchase and they would get pissed and nearly throw their package at them and tell them to leave. No proof, pay the piper.
ouch, that's a pretty hefty fine!!!
and yes, that's pretty much why i do it... I don't like sitting in customs any longer then i have to.
