My take and I could be very wrong but in essence EAS' approach is not very different but much cheaper. The BMW path changes the hardware to match the software (ie the FWM3) whereas EAS changes the current FWM to emulate FWM3. The retrofit is has been released with part numbers
In some cases when using Autologic coding, replacement of FRM2 to FRM3 is required until they find a solution to code FRM2. So, as of today not every car can be codded to fit this retrofit. Tom can correct me if I am wrong.
