Keep in mind the Blizzaks come in different families. The WS series have the micro-cell compound. They have amazing snow and ice grip, but are not at all sporty. These do not even come in sizes for the E90/92 M3's.
The LM series (usually the LM25 at present) are high performance winter tires. They are H or V speed rated and offer respectable handling for a winter tire. There are sportier tires in this category like the Pirelli's for example, but they give up a little of their bite in the snow for better handling.
I have seen very few "bad" winter tires, but there are definitely differences that can make them a better or worse choice for a given driver.
