That scenario strikes me as extremely unlikely. There is a always a possibility for small internal changes over the years, but I would not expect anything that would change the behavior of the transmission. At most it would be changes for better durability or reliability.

Sort of like a SSG, SSGII, SSGIII progression. Maybe the 2010 car will just have DCT II and that will be the end of it.
IMHO, the prospect for "DCT II" in the lifetime of the E9X M3 is basically non-existent, and especially not a mere two years after the original debuts.
