If you don't have enough spring to allow for travel within the shock, you are sacrificing dampening benefits and potentially contributing to premature wear. I've been lowering cars for almost 20 years, so I'm gonna go with my gut & experience on this one. It's easy enough to switch 'em back to stocks if I didn't like or had to for suspension warranty work.
