Correct, because flash drives use FAT32 as their File Allocation Table, and FAT32 is native to Windows.
So, just to be clear...
An iPod formatted on a Windows PC will perform as an iPod and transfer the signal Digitally
to the headunit.
An iPod formated on a MacOS will perform as an iPod, but will only transfer a signal in Analog
to the head unit.
