I suppose it's possible that the songs could be re-recorded as mp3's, put on a flash, and then sent as a digital signal to the car, and this may still sound better than the song being converted to analog by the ipod and sent to the car. Any song sent digitally will sound better than analog (to what degree depends on the person). I guess your only option to play the iTunes songs is to try the method you described. As I stated earlier, you should always buy through Amazon.com (MP3 downloads or used CDs) or mp3sparks.com.
