Honestly you can drive it year round. I am way north in Maine where it gets more snow than NH and mine is slammed to the ground with a front lip wheels, etc. and all of last Winter I maybe didn't drive it for 5 days straight at the longest. I have an 09 X5 for snow duty but I drove both.

We had 5-7 snow storms and then the rest of the actual Winter was sunny and clear at 10 degrees. Maine keeps the roads clear of any snow/debris. Much better than Oregon or Washington state IMO.
